Boehner & Hoyer Party Map

Two members of Congress who show up the most on invitations we collect at Party Time are House minority leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House majority leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.). In their leadership capacities, Boehner and Hoyer not only collect massive amounts of money for their own campaigns, much of which they dole back out to colleagues. (See Boehner’s expenditures here and Hoyer’s here. ) They also act as draws at fundraising events for others.

From press reports, we know we get see a slice of all the events where Boehner and Hoyer appear. CQ Politics recently wrote that Boehner had headlined 127 events around the country in 2009 and raised $13.7 million. The interactive map below shows 53, most of them in the shadow of the Capitol building. Click on the flags to see details about the events.

This is the first time I have visited this site and I believe that you present the reality of how much social/business networking that is a reality in Washington. The first time that I got into “high-end” sales I realized how much networking is necessary because deals are never initiated in the office they are finalized there, that is where the pen meets the contract. Your website is very valuable in presenting “transparency” because it is only through this type of transparency can every day working people understand the process that, legislators who sometimes have the best of intentions, somehow lose their way and end up “diluting” and making compromises that thwart and hinder good government. Tom Blumenthal, in his interview on radio station KPFA made transparent some of the Obama administration’s, Rahm Emmanuel to be specific,”less-than-transparent dealings. This type of transparency can help the American public, who are not in the “beltway” understand why congress and lobbyists have created an impasse for serious legislation to get enacted into law. You serve a very good function in giving unbiased information about how Wasington does business w/ business. I will be a regular visitor to this website.

Sen. Boehner is an obstructionist idiot when it comes to economics or, for that matter, just about everything else. He thinks that saying no to any stimulus policy without offering an alternative policy will somehow pull us out of the recession. It didn’t work for Hoover and it won’t work today.
