Plouffe in NYC with top bundlers, under 40 set

David Plouffe is coming to New York City tonight, first to hobnob with high rollers at the home of a major bundler, then to party with the under 40 set at a downtown Manhattan lounge.

Plouffe has a $1,000-per-guest “reception and discussion” at the the Upper West Side home of Mark Gallogly, who bundled between $200,000 to $500,000 for the Obama campaign, serves on the president’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board, and is the managing principal at the investment firm Centerbridge Partners.

The latter event is the Democratic National Committee’s attempt to lure young donors in the New York City area with lineup of stars:  former Obama campaign manager David Plouffe, well-known Newark mayor Cory Booker, the president’s body man from the West Wing and the star of Ugly Betty are all listed on the invitation.

And, of course, the Congressman from Pennsylvania’s 8th District!

Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Penn., 36, is one of the four honorary co-chairs of the DNC’s Gen44 program, which also held parties in San Francisco and Los Angeles earlier this month. These co-chairs are “looked to for inspiration, ideas and outreach within the under-40 Democratic community,” according to the Gen44 website.

However, Murphy, 36, in a competitive race with former GOP Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick — which the Cook Political Report says leans in Murphy’s favor — will not be there, his campaign said. It’s unclear if the other chairs will be either. Murphy has raked in nearly $2.7 million to Fitzpatrick’s almost $1 million, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

The event will be at the luxurious downtown Manhattan lounge called Retreat, which markets itself as a getaway from the city.

Getting in costs only $44 (get it!) while a spot on the host committee, which includes top bundlers like Brian Mathis and former Obama campaign head in New York Dave Pollak, goes for $1,000.

Since we don't hear about all the parties, you can also tell us if you know where the party is and we don't.
